Winter Care Tips for Trumpet Vines

If you’re a gardener, you probably know that taking care of your plants in winter is just as important as during any other season. Understanding Trumpet Vines

Trumpet vines, also known as Campsis radicans, are fast-growing and climbing plants that produce beautiful red or orange trumpet-shaped flowers. They thrive in warm climates and can grow up to 30 feet in height!

Preparing for Winter

The first step in caring for trumpet vines in winter is proper preparation. In late fall, make sure to stop fertilizing the plant and reduce watering. This will signal to the plant that it’s time to prepare for dormancy. Additionally, you’ll want to prune the plant back to about 12 inches above the soil line. This will help prevent damage caused by strong winter winds.

Protecting the Roots
